Utah black bear applications are due February 25th by 11:00 pm. Follow the link here to get yourself entered. I have personally hunted bears in Utah and there are a few killer units if you can draw them. Utah lets you put in for spot and stalk, hunting over bait, or running dogs to hunt your bears. With options like these this state suits any type of hunter. The Division of Wildlife Resources has some good info on black bears that will prepare you for any type of hunt and it can be found here.

Nothing beats having a bear stroll by your treestand at 5 yards and stop at your bait to give you a nice easy chip shot with your bow at 12 yards. Or seeing your hounds tree a monster after a long chase. Anyone else ever had any luck hunting bears in Utah? What’s your preferred method of take for black bears?
