New Hampshire’s legislative committee shoots down HB442 which would’ve banned coyote hunting from April to August. Citing previous mistakes made by legislators creating hunting seasons. Mistakes which wiped out the turkeys in the state. The committee voted 14-6 to not pass the bill.

The lawmakers argued between how cruel it was to leave orphaned pups vs coyotes eating deer fawns. Democrat Ellen Read opposed the bill, stating that game and fish biologists have set the seasons for coyotes to control populations. She added that legislators should only intervene if fish and game will cause harm if they don’t listen to scientific advice.

This is a win for hunters in New Hampshire. Keep the politics and feelings out of it and allow biology and science to dictate hunting seasons.
