Wyoming Game and Fish officials had a busy year in 2018 when it comes to bears. From attacks to helping create legislation to ship the bears to California. They also captured over 50 bears, six of them twice. The reason for the captures varied from hunter attacks and cattle depredation. Due to previous human conflict, orphaned cubs, or poor physical condition, 32 bears were “lethally removed” from the population. Anti-hunting groups are asking wildlife managers to figure out a way to reduce bear deaths and conflicts.

“It’s important to note that we are still below mortality thresholds that demonstrate the population is fully recovered,” said Dan Thompson, large carnivore section supervisor for the Game and Fish.

What do you guys think? What can be done to reduce human-bear conflicts?
