BOBCAT GPS COLLAR PROJECT

Connecticut DEEP initiated a bobcat GPS collar project in the fall of 2017. August 1st, 2018 those collars were programmed to detach and fall off. 50 bobcats were collared across the state and the collars were and still are transmitting important data. DEEP is asking residents that find one of these collars to contact them so they can arrange for a wildlife official to pick it up. The data collected is part of a study to determine bobcat habits in rural and suburban areas. The research will also help determine how successful they are at reproduction in these different areas. You can read more here.

If you find one of these collars you can contact the Connecticut DEEP at 860-424-3045 or online at deep.ctwildlife@ct.gov
