For the first time in over 100 years, black leopards were spotted in Kenya. Researchers with the San Diego Zoo and Loisaba Conservancy in Kenya set up game cameras after hearing reports of the animals in the area. The cameras ran from February to April and snapped pics of a female 4 times. Up until researchers verified these photos, the last confirmed black leopard sighting was in Ethiopia in 1909. Leopards, in general, are on the International Union for Conservation of Nature red list of threatened species as “vulnerable”. The all black cats have a gene mutation known as melanism that causes the coloration.

it is pretty cool to see these big black cats roaming around after being unseen for all these years. What are your thoughts on the animal?
