A coughing ewe was found in Zion National Park, Utah that concerned officials. The ewe was euthanized safely and after running some tests was found to have pneumonia. Results showed she had Mycoplasma Ovipneumoniae. The bacteria strain was the first positive encounter among Zion bighorn sheep. Additional samples have shown there are more sick bighorns in the park. The illness has caused no known deaths up to this point.

Zion National Park and Utah Wildlife officials urge visitors to report any signs of the illness if encountered. Read more here and learn how to contact officials.
