Arkansas Game and Fish Commission modifies their CWD strategy for the 2018 season resulting in more opportunity for hunters. Antler restrictions have been lifted for the counties within the CWD management zone. Though the state realizes the success of the quality deer management strategy they feel it is necessary to allow the harvest of more young bucks to slow and stop the spread of the disease. The state has banned the feeding of deer within the zone, except for use while hunting, September 1st through December 31st. They have made more tags available to landowners and have also banned the transport of deer and elk carcasses outside of the “Tier 1” zone. This includes Boone, Carroll, Madison, and Newton counties.
