Arizona, ripe with a variety of big game species, just opened the 2023 spring draw cycle for Javelina, Turkey, Bear, Bison, and Raptor Capture.

Applications are only accepted online and before you begin to apply have the following information ready: a customer ID number, a valid credit card, date of birth, social security number, email address, and a valid license (or purchase one while applying).

The deadline to apply is October 11, 2022, at 11:59 PM and the results will be available in early November.

The best way to obtain your results is to have an online portal account through the Arizona Game and Fish (AZGF) website. Likewise, this year there is a mobile app that links to your online portal that allows you to see valid hunting and fishing licenses and if you opt-in you will be able to utilize E-tags. This will allow you to view tags purchased or drawn and you can electronically tag harvested animals and complete harvest reporting.

AZGF for many years has offered PointGuard. During the application period, you have the ability to protect your points, if PointGuard is purchased, this allows you the ability to turn in your tag for some unfortunate reason after successfully drawing it.  The fee is $10.00 per species per application. Recently they enhanced this fee program by offering PointGuard Plus, for $25.00 you can turn in any eligible tag in for three consecutive draw cycles from the date of purchase. This would mean one fall, one spring, and one winter draw cycle from the date PointGuard Plus was purchased.

Make sure and study the spring regulations prior to applying to find out what has changed and to determine what species and what units to apply for. The regulations can be found here and best of luck in the 2023 draw. Check out more Arizona hunting news by clicking here.
