If you are hunting in Wyoming you only have a few days left to print your hunter education card. At least for free. Starting January 1st, 2022 new cards will cost $10.

This fee is associated with a new system being implemented within the state. As a result, it is easier for the Department to track education certifications and classes.

“You can print as many copies as you need — one for your wallet, one for your hunting gear and a few extras just in case.” – Game and Fish Hunter Education Coordinator Katie Simpson

Annually almost 5,000 adults and children complete Wyoming’s Hunter Education. Typically newer students of the course will have their unique education number printed on their license, as is common in many states. This is helping eliminate the need to carry both a hunting license and a completed education card.

“However, students who took the course years ago might not have a hunter education number linked to their licensing account. Those Wyoming graduates can submit a request on the hunter education webpage to get their number printed on future licenses. Requests will take up to four weeks to process.” -WFGD

If you were born anytime after January 1, 1966, you are required to carry proof of course completion. On the other hand, if you were born anytime prior it is not required for you.

Taking and completing an education course is not yet required in all fifty states. However, they are beneficial to new hunters and help fund conservation efforts.
