Cooking Directions

Elk Pinwheels Recipe-Start by placing thawed ground elk meat into a mixing bowl. Season to taste using the seasonings listed above. Ensure the seasonings are dispersed evenly by mixing by hand. After mixing, brown the elk meat on medium to high heat for 6-8 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Prepare the first crescent biscuit sheet by spraying a light mist of non-stick cooking spray on the counter. Spread the dough to approximately a 10×14 inch rectangle. Create the 2nd rectangle of dough and set aside.

Spread the cooked elk meat evenly over the first crescent sheet leaving an inch around the edges. Cover the meat with shredded cheese and roll into a burrito. Cover the 2nd sheet of dough with cheese and roll around the first burrito section. Round the ends and pinch closed any seams in the dough.

Coat a cookie sheet with non-stick spray. Using a sharp knife cut the roll into 1 inch thick slices and place them on the cookie sheet evenly spaced. Top each piece with a spoon full of elk meat and extra cheese if desired. Place in the oven on middle rack and bake for 11-13 minutes or until biscuit dough is golden brown around the edges. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Enjoy!
