Dogs are a vital tool in some aspects of hunting. You would be hard pressed to find a successful lion guide that doesn’t use dogs. Waterfowl guys swear by a good pup, as do upland bird fellas. In some places hunters use dogs to chase deer and others to track bear. When did we as hunters, look at our four-legged counterparts and say, hey you’d make a great hunting partner? According to science, it could have been more than 11,500 years ago. Archaeological findings suggest that hunters of days long ago may have used dogs to chase rabbits and foxes into holes. There is also evidence that the dogs roamed around the village freely and snacked on the discarded bones. Read the findings here.  Guess they have always been mans best friend.

Do you have a great dog that you’re always taking hunting with you?
