This was a Colorado public land solo hunt. I passed up a few nice bulls
before seeing this old bull around 3 pm on the 3rd day. The mass of his
right 4th tine was impressive and I quickly set up the camera at 160 yards.
For a better shot, I moved out and around for a broadside shot and double
lunged him with my 300. I was about a half mile from my Jeep and made 5
trips to pack him out, during that time it got down to 15 degrees and
started snowing but I really didn’t even feel the cold having just shot the
biggest bull of my life. My taxidermist said he was one of the oldest bulls
he had ever seen. His teeth were pretty much worn down to just above the
gum line. He had a gross score of 330.
