The application deadline for bighorn sheep, mountain goats, and moose is approaching quickly. Resident and nonresident hunters have until midnight Monday, Feb. 28th to apply. Applicants can apply online by clicking here.

If interested hunters are looking to find out more information they can check out The Wyoming Hunt Planner tool. The Hunt Planner can be found by clicking here. This website offers tons of tools for planning your next hunt. Things like maps of each hunt area, descriptions of the terrain, drawing odds, and harvest statistics. Likewise, Tentative season dates are posted as well. This is a great idea when planning a bucket list hunt like moose hunting. 

Hunters can find information on license limits and descriptions, season proposals, and changes for 2022 in the informational application packet or by calling the sportsperson hotline at (307) 777-4600. 

Starting on March 1st, the month-long wild bison application period opens. Also, the application process for deer, antelope, and resident elk will close on May 31st, 2022.

For hunters only looking to purchase preference points, the buying period will open July 1st and run until Oct. 31st, 2022.

Hunters can buy preference points for the following animals.

  • resident and nonresident full price bighorn sheep
  • nonresident antelope
  • nonresident deer
  • resident and nonresident moose
  • nonresident elk

This preference point period is a great time to build points for hunts you are planning in the future.
