A new relocation program to trap and relocate wolves is now on pause because of government shutdowns. The pack of wolves in Michigan’s Isle Royale was found to be dwindling. So a plan was created to trap and transplant wolves into the area to help with the pack. Because of the shutdown, ariel surveys will not be conducted and could affect the count of wolves and moose populations in the area. Research has been going on for decades and this shutdown could have severely negative impacts on the study.

Researchers are hopeful that the few remaining wolves will survive the winter and be able to thrive in the National Park. Only time will tell.

What other effects has this government shutdown caused that you have seen in your area?
