Rapid City South Dakota has a deer problem. In October Rapid City Parks Department conducted their annual deer trend survey. Using that survey South Dakota Game, Fish and Wildlife Department officials are suggesting 250 deer be culled within the city. If the plan is approved by the city council, certified shooters will target the deer in evening hours within the city and donate the meat to local food charities. Though many love to see the deer in and around the city, the animals do cause concern. As deer populations within the city increase, naturally, so do deer on car collisions. Sure seems like a prime opportunity to let hunters go to work with an “in city limits” archery hunt.
