551 black bears have been taken at the halfway point of Tennessee’s bear season. Hunters have enjoyed the spreading population and the increase in bears. 2011 marks the states best harvest year with 589 bears successfully taken by the end of the season. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency estimates there are now 7,000 bears in the state. Is it time to plan a bear hunting trip to Tennessee?
