Oregon Wildlife Biologists are looking for answers. Mule deer numbers are down 10% over the last 12 years.  In 2016 the estimated Mule Deer population in Oregon was 226,775 which is down approx 20,000 deer from 2004.  During that same time frame the Elk population has increased 6%.  This is leading Biologists to believe that the increase of Elk is having an effect on the mule deer population.
