FINES PAYING FOR EDUCATION

We’ve all seen poaching fines and thought, hmmm seems kinda low. After reading this, you’ll wish fines for most hunting-related infractions were steeper. In Arkansas, fines are paying for education. The Arkansas Game and Fish Wildlife Conservation Education Grant Program takes fine money from hunting and fishing violations and issues grants to schools and conservation districts. These funds are used for multiple programs statewide. One caveat to the program, funds may only be used in the district where the violation occurred. Outdoor ed and trap shooting trips are two of the programs officials hope will connect youth to the outdoors.

What do you think about the program? Do you think other states should adopt similar programs?
