Hunters using bikes to access areas is nothing new. There is even a market for electronic motor assisted bikes for hunters. The ease of use a 2 wheeled bike with a pull behind cart makes many places easily accessible. Hunters hunting around Hecla Green Creeks Mine can no longer use bikes on the B road. Citing close encounters between mining trucks hauling tailings and other materials and 2 wheeled big game hunters mine officials pushed for the ban. The ban includes any wheeled assistance, its hike in only. Hunters who hunt around the mine in Alaska disagree with the mine officials, but Alaska fish and game sided with the mine. The bike ban will only stop some hunters from hunting the area. Also, others who say it’s not worth the 9-mile hike to get into the area for a day hunt.
